GCU London and selected GCU Glasgow degree programmes | notification of immediate closure

I am writing to advise that due to continued growth in application volumes and the capacity of programmes, Glasgow Caledonian University have made the difficult decision to close recruitment for September 2022 to the following programmes, with immediate effect:

1. All Postgraduate Programmes at GCU London

• Closing to both international and domestic applicants

1. Master¡¯s in Public Health (GCU Glasgow and GCU London Campus)

• Closing to both international and domestic applicants

1. The following degree programmes at GCU Glasgow are closing to international applicants:

• MSc Environmental Management
• MSc Cyber Security
• MSc Big Data Technologies
• MSc International Construction Project Management

This was not a decision that was taken without extensive discussions within the University, however due to the unprecedented demand, and the volume of applications being submitted by both home and international students, it was agreed that more immediate action needed to be taken to close recruitment in order to ensure that the applications that have been submitted can be processed in a timely manner and that the student experience is upheld in terms of class sizes.

What does this means for applications that have already been submitted via the Global Application Form:

If the application has been sent for evaluation, and is under review with the University these applications will continue to be reviewed. Students may therefore still be issued with an offer if their chose programme has capacity and the applicant has been published requirements.

If the application has not yet been sent for evaluation, as we were awaiting missing documents or additional information from the student, we are unable to progress the application.

The applicant can:

• Consider deferring their application to the next available intake date for their chosen programme (noting many of the Programmes taught at GCU London offer a January start date)
• If applying for a programme at GCU London which is now closed, a student may consider changing their location of study, provided their chosen programme is taught on the GCU Glasgow Campus.

Please note however that the student will be unable to change their location of study once enrolled due to teaching capacity on the London Campus.

If the student chooses to change their study location to Glasgow, it is expected that they will complete their full degree in Glasgow.
